Monroe County - I-80 bridge replacement over Tunkhannock Creek |
24-hour single lane condition is in place for approximately two miles westbound between Exits 284 and 277 on I-80 West.
Both lanes of I-80 east traffic are shifted on to the westbound side of I-80. This traffic shift will enable the demolition of the I-80 east bridge over the Tunkhannock Creek. Once demolished, crews will build a new I-80 east bridge over the Tunkhannock Creek. I-80 west will remain in a single lane pattern until the eastbound bridge is complete later this year. The new I-80 west bridge over the Tunkhannock Creek was recently completed. The $6.94 million project began in November 2006 and is expected to be complete by the end of August 2008. Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through work zones. The I-80 bridges were constructed in 1965. They are 182 feet long, three-span, steel I-beam bridges. The new bridges will be 180 feet long, three-span, steel I-beam bridges. This section of I-80 has an average daily traffic volume of 13,723 vehicles westbound and 15,473 vehicles eastbound. |
