The Bethlehem Area School District’s contractor who is demolishing the old Broughal Middle School on Packer Avenue @ Brodhead Avenue will begin removing the west wall of the school on Monday October 26, 2009.
In order to work in a safe manner and to prevent injury or damage to the passing public the contractor will close Brodhead Avenue between Packer Avenue and W. 4th Street to thru traffic from 0700-1530 hours. South bound Brodhead Avenue with be detoured east on 4th Street @ Brodhead Avenue to Webster Street, south on Webster Street to Packer Avenue, west on Packer Avenue and back to Brodhead Avenue. North bound traffic will be detoured west on Packer Avenue to Montclair Avenue, north on Montclair Avenue to Broadway, east on Broadway to 4th & Brodhead Avenue. After 1530 hours the contractor will reopen Brodhead Avenue to two-way traffic. Keep in mind the lanes will be narrowed down due to the construction fence and motorists are advised to drive at a reduced speed until clear the fence line. The daily closing of Brodhead Avenue is expected to last two weeks. *** NOTE: A substantial number of motorists who travel north on SR 378 (Wyandotte Street) use Summit Street to Brodhead Avenue to by-pass the 5-Points area. These motorists may want to remain on Wyandotte Street thru the 5-Points. The Brodhead Avenue may be more congested and slower. |
