Berks County - US-222 Outer Bypass Improvements |

A project to improve the US 222 Outer Bypass in Wyomissing Borough, Bern, Maiden Creek, Muhlenberg, Ontelaunee and Spring Townships, Berks County begins Monday, July 20.
The project is financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Crews will perform pavement testing and motorists can expect lane restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on US 222 between PA 61 and Spring Ridge Drive for approximately two weeks. Restrictions will be in place nightly, weather permitting. Beginning Aug. 10, motorists can expect daily lane restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. at locations between Business Route 222 and Berkshire Boulevard while crews rehabilitate the highway. The project calls for resurfacing approximately 16 miles of US 222. The project also includes concrete patching, shoulder upgrades, bridge deck repairs, median barrier upgrades, guiderail upgrades and new pavement markings. This section of US 222 has an average daily traffic volume of 43,106 vehicles. The project is expected to be complete in November 2010. All schedules are weather dependent. |
