The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced the start of a concrete roadway rehabilitation on I-78 eastbound in Greenwich Township, Warren County.
“This $3.4 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act rehabilitation project is providing essential infrastructure improvements to I-78 while stimulating economic investment and job creation,” said Governor Jon S. Corzine. On Monday, September 14, NJDOT will begin reconstructing I-78 eastbound from milepost 4.16 to milepost 4.83, as well as the Route 22 eastbound ramps to I-78 in Greenwich Township. Initial resurfacing work will begin on the I-78 eastbound right shoulder. Then, on Friday September 18, NJDOT will close the left lane and shoulder on I-78 eastbound for the length of the project to begin reconstruction of the pavement. I-78 eastbound will be reduced from three travel lanes to two, and will be shifted over to the right. The ramp from Route 22 eastbound to I-78 westbound will maintain two travel lanes during construction. Single lane closures will be allowed on I-78 eastbound Monday to Friday 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, Saturday 12 midnight to 6 a.m. the next day and Sunday 12 midnight to 5 a.m. the next day. Variable message signs will notify motorists on I-78 of any upcoming traffic pattern changes.
