Long term lane restrictions are in place on PA 309 between the Bucks County Line and Fairmount Street in Coopersburg Borough and Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County.
Work on the Main Street Bridge over Tumble Brook, a tributary of the Saucon Creek, in Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County, is complete. The project was expected to be complete in July 2009, but was completed early to provide a much needed alternate route for motorists to get around the PA 309 widening project in Coopersburg Borough and Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County.
====================== Motorists should be alert for changing traffic patterns April 16 and April 17 as crews shift all lanes of traffic to the northbound side of PA 309. One lane of both northbound and southbound traffic will continue to be restricted 24-hours a day until the end of the project. This is to allow crews to widen the roadway as part of this PA 309 safety and congestion project. Motorists on PA 309 north and south should expect delays and allow for extra time traveling through the area. This safety and congestion improvement project will improve PA 309 between approximately 760 feet north of the Upper Saucon Township/Coopersburg Borough line and the Bucks County line. The project will add left turn lanes at the intersections of PA 309 at Station Avenue, Landis Street, Fairmount Street, and Thomas Street; and restrict left turn movements from PA 309 at all other non-signalized intersections within the project area (emergency access will be maintained at State Street). Traffic signal components will be updated, new curbs and sidewalks will be installed, and there will be minor drainage improvements. Pedestrian crosswalks will be installed at the intersections of PA 309 at Station Avenue, Landis Street and Fairmount Street; and median islands will be installed on PA 309 between Station Avenue and Fairmount Street. Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. of Blooming Glen, Pa. is the general contractor on the $6.75 million project. The project began February 24 and is expected to be completed in October 2010. This section of PA 309 has an average daily traffic volume of 45,719 vehicles. |
