Work will start July 7 to improve PA 33 between the Saylorsburg Exit and Northampton County Line in Hamilton and Ross townships, Monroe County.
Improvements to PA 33 include concrete patching, milling and resurfacing the highway, shoulder upgrades, new line paint, and new reflective pavement markings. The total project length is approximately two miles. Beginning tonight, motorists can expect single lane conditions Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM. There will be no lane restrictions during holiday weekends or race weekends at Pocono Raceway. The project is expected to be complete in November 2008. All schedules are weather dependent. Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra time when traveling through the area. Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc. of Skippack, Pa. is the general contractor on the $3.6 million project. This stretch of PA 33 has an average daily traffic volume of 32,100 vehicles. PennDOT reminds drivers to move through all work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and to always buckle up. |
