Berks County - US-422 Improvements in Amity Township |

Work started Monday (May 19) on improvements to three intersections on US 422 in Amity Township, Berks County.
This is a project designed to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion at the intersections of US 422 west at PA 662, US 422 west at River Bridge Road and US 422 east at River Bridge Road.
Improvements to the intersection of US 422 west and PA 662 include roadway widening, right turn lanes and an upgraded traffic signal.
Improvements to the intersection of US 422 west and River Bridge Road include roadway widening, drainage improvements and a new traffic signal.
Improvements to the intersection of US 422 east and River Bridge Road include roadway widening, a new right turn lane on US 422 east, drainage improvements and a new traffic signal.
Additional work includes paving, new pavement markings, new signs and guide rail installation.
Beginning Monday, motorists can expect off-peak lane restrictions (9 AM - 3 PM weekdays; 6 PM - 6 AM weeknights; and any time on weekends) and should allow for extra time when traveling through the work area.
All work is expected to be complete in June 2009.
US 422 has an average daily traffic of 33,696 vehicles, PA 662 has an average daily traffic of 10,804 vehicles, and River Bridge Road has an average daily traffic of 7,114 vehicles.
