PennDOT officials have released ratings on truss bridges throughout the state. Pennsylvania has the third largest number of bridges in the nation, but leads all other states in the number of bridges classified as "structurally deficient."  PennDOT officials say "structurally deficient" bridges are safe, but in need of costly repairs or replacement - to bring them to current standards.
